Mission & Philosophy

TVCS Mission
To educate the whole child by integrating creative expression, social responsibility and academic excellence

TVCS Philosophy
Hand Print ArtTVCS provides a supportive learning environment that honors individuals and promotes a strong sense of community. The fundamental goal is to ensure that each child enjoys school, is appropriately challenged at school, and that time spent in school is meaningful and applicable to their lives. As members of a supportive school community, children develop a sense of belonging and learn how to collaborate and make positive contributions to the school and local community. They also learn how to work though challenges with the support of others. Parents play a critical role in the education of children at TVCS through volunteering in the classroom, attending field trips, and participating in school-wide events and celebrations.

At TVCS, children are actively involved in their learning. Both the classroom environment and teaching methods invite students to ask questions, solve problems, pursue their interests and express themselves creativity. When appropriate, children are given opportunities to guide the direction and details of their education so that them become more invested in their own learning. Because of the small class sizes at TVCS, students are encouraged to learn at their own pace and receive individual attention from their teachers in this process.
